Example of Duties:
Under the authority delegated by the Robeson County HHS Director pursuant to G.S. 108Aƀ14(b), the Social Services Director exercises all statutory powers and duties of a county director of social services. This position serves as the executive and administrative head of the Social Services division within the consolidated Human Services Agency, as provided under G.S. 153Aƀ77. The Director plans, organizes, administers, and evaluates the full scope of mandated social services programs; ensures compliance with state and federal law; provides leadership to all program areas; and ensures the protection, well-being, and self-sufficiency of residents served by the agency. Reports to the Robeson County HHS Director/County Manager.
Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Public Health, or related field. Extensive experience in human services administration, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered as allowed by statute.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment.
  • Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
  • Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
  • A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
